Climate Change: Our Problem, Our Solutions
Climate change goes beyond global warming. Shorter warmer winters, reduced snowpack, less water available in summer, increasing forest fires. We already are seeing these changes in Aspen, and greater changes are on the way. Climate change is our problem and one will we pass on to future generations unless we taken action now.
The solution is Ours.
80 percent of U.S. emissions of greenhouse gases come from energy in our homes, cars, and travel. That means we can each have a direct impact on reducing our emissions through conserving energy and using renewable resources. The City of Aspen is helping lead this effort but in order to be successful, everyone will need to do their parts to reduce Aspen’s carbon footprint.
The City of Aspen’s Climate Action Plan calls for Aspen to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 30 percent by 2012 and 80 percent by 2050, below 2004 levels.
