Motor Vehicle: Lost Registration or TitleLost registration:If you have lost, misplaced or accidentally destroyed your registration you can obtain a duplicate from our office.

Lost title (Duplicate title): If your
original "Certificate of Title" has been lost, stolen, mutilated or
become illegible you need to apply for a duplicate title.
A duplicate title voids any previously issued Colorado titleApplying in person:- You may apply for a duplicate title in our office. Often we are able to immediately print the title for you.
- Only the owner or current lien holder can apply for a duplicate
title. If you are not the owner, a motor vehicle power of attorney
signed by the owner is required.
- ID may be required.
- You will need the vehicle identification number (VIN) and Colorado title number. A copy of the current registration is helpful.
- If the original title has a lien, the duplicate title will be mailed to the lien holder.
- The fee is $8.20.
Applying by mail:- DR2539A "Duplicate Title Request and Receipt" (which can be found at the Colorado DMV website)
- Complete all portions of the DR2539A, including vehicle
identification number (VIN) and Colorado title number. Include a copy
of the registration if you have one.
- Only the owner or current lien holder can apply for a duplicate title. If you are not the owner, a motor vehicle power of attorney signed by the owner is required.
- If the original title has a lien, the duplicate title will be mailed to the lien holder.
- The duplicate will be mailed to the owner's address or lien
holder's address, as shown on the original title. If you wish the title
to be mailed to another address, please complete the section of the
application entitled "Mail to another address".
- Include a check for $8.20 payable to Pitkin County Clerk.
