Community Relations: Pitkin County

The Pitkin County Community Relations


Department serves as a liaison between the community and County Government. We strive to make our government as transparent as possible


The tools we use to communicate are word of mouth, newspaper, radio, television and the internet. We publish a weekly ad on page 11 in the Monday edition of the Aspen Daily News that highlights our meeting agendas and other information relevant to the public. We keep the local media informed with regular press releases, public service announcements, press conferences and interviews.

All of our Board of County Commissioner regular meetings are broadcast live on    CGTV Channel 11. In addition to local government “news magazines” CGTV is host to a wide variety of “government initiated” programming including Aspen School Board Meetings, Aspen Valley Hospital Board meetings, Aspen City Council and Snowmass Town Council meetings. 

The Community Relations Department may serve as a primary point of media contact as a Public Information Officer in an emergency or crisis situation like wildfire, flood or other public safety situation.
