Recycling is a big part of being green in Aspen and Pitkin County. Our recycling collection program is a 4 bin system which means that all recyclable materials, such as office paper, co-mingled containers, cardboard, and newspaper/magazines must be separated into 4 different bins for pick up. The materials are then sent to Pitkin County Resource Recovery, located at the Pitkin County Landfill, where they are bailed and sold to manufacturers that turn our discards into new products.
Our programs are available for single family residents, multi family residents, businesses, and City / County government.
Recycling for other items such as plastic bags, phone books, electronic waste, hazardous waste, and compost is also available. For more detail, view the recycling guidelines.
