How to Use Pay Stations

Locations:

On-street pay stations and meter parking is available throughout the Downtown core area.  They are located at the middle of each block on each side of the street.  If a pay station is not working, pay at another station near by.

Pay and Display Parking Meter

How to use a pay station:

It's easy: After parking your vehicle, walk to the nearest pay station and insert payment. A receipt from any meter may be used in any space in the downtown core.

  Pay stations accept

  •  major credit cards
  •  coins
  •  tokens
  •  debit smart cards

After receiving payment, the pay station will print a receipt which should be displayed on the driver's side of your dashboard.

* Please note that parking is permitted for a maximum of four hours in Downtown core.  The Rio Grande Parking plaza, is the ideal location to park for longer periods.

Tokens can be purchased at Aspen Parking Department or at local businesses that display the blue and white Aspen Parking Tokens Available Here sign.

Smart Cards

Prepaid smart cards can be purchased at the Parking Department at 540 E Main St.  Smart cards work like debit cards and come in $20.00 increments.

Aspen pay stations work like traditional parking meters, except that one pay station covers one side of an entire block.  Look for pay stations mid-block in the commercial core.

If you discover a malfunctioning pay station please phone (970) 920-5267

Short term meters are located on several corners throughout the downtown core for quick errands.  15 minutes for 50 cents.

Attention In-Car Meter Customers:

14 years ago, the City of Aspen introduced the in-car meter program.  Since then, the public has enjoyed a very convenient method of paying to park.

Unfortunately, the in-car meter manufacturer has decided to discontinue this product and the Parking Department's supply is depleted.  Customers in possession of the in-car meters are encouraged to return them when the batteries expire.  Upon return, your initial deposit will be refunded. We apologize for any inconvenience.
