On June 1st... It's the Law
Effective June 1st, the city of Aspen requires that have a bear-resistant container for "day of pick-up". If you have questions or need help, please call the Aspen Police Department at (970) 920-5400.
If you have a bear-resistant container on order or back-order, but has it has not yet arrived... please keep your receipt! You will not receive a ticket if you have a receipt for your approved bear-resistant container.
Compliant Bear-Resistant Container List
Below is a sampling of compliant bear-resistant containers that have been tested and rated by Living with Wildlife and Interagency Grizzley Bear Committee. These containers below will meet the City of Aspen's Wildlife Protection ordinance for bear-resistant trash receptacles. Interagency Grizzley Bear Committee
