Pitkin County Road Standards & Permits
The goal of the Pitkin County Asset Management Plan, is to provide specific maintenance and management information to Pitkin County residents and to assist County staff in prioritizing maintenance and setting expectations for County assets. The AMP also establishes certain rules that have the force of law; violations of these rules are punishable as provided for herein and in the Colorado Revised Statutes, as they may be amended from time to time.
ACCESS DRIVEWAY DEVELOPMENT
Required prior to beginning work on a proposed access/driveway, or prior to making substantial improvements to an existing access.
GRUBBING/EARTHMOVING PERMIT
Required for any earthmoving work that involves the movement of more than 50 cubic yards of soil (exception for foundation permits.)
FLOODPLAIN PERMIT
Required for any work within the designated 100 - year floodplain including bank stabilization, bridges, dredging, installation of irrigation equipment and revegetation.
OVERWEIGHT/OVERSIZED TRANSPORT
Required for vehicles or equipment traveling on County roads and bridges which exceed the posted load limit or do not conform to the limitations set by the Colorado Vehicle Code.
REVOCABLE RIGHT OF WAY PARKING
Required when parking encroaches public right-of-ways, property lines, sidewalks, curbs, trails, intakes, hydrants, meters, manholes, irrigation ditches or structures, existing fences etc.
REVOCABLE RIGHT OF WAY
Required to erect or maintain a structure on a public right-of-way.
ROW
Right of way Work Permit, required on any access (driveway, road, field or trail access) on any county maintained, publicly dedicated right-of-way (even if work is not performed in the roadway itself.)
