Pitkin County Sheriff Announces Fire Ban
As of 12:00 a.m. Thursday, April 05, 2012 The Pitkin County Sheriff, with the support from the Fire Chiefs of Aspen, Snowmass, Basalt, and Carbondale, is imposing open fire restrictions due to the unseasonably warm weather and lack of moisture. The fuel moisture content of trees, grass and brush is significantly low and at risk of a devastating fire.

Click Burn Ban Info box below for specific information about the fire ban, including contact information for your local fire department.

All about Colorado's 'Move Over' Law
Did you know that you're required by State law to move over one lane and/or slow down considerably when approaching a stationary emergency vehicle? It's true! Colorado State law (C.R.S 42-4-705) requires all motorists to move over one lane and/or slow down when you approach a police car, fire truck...even a CDOT or tow truck!

Picture it, you're driving down Highway 82 and see flashing lights ahead. If you can, move over to the left lane. At the very least slow down. It's for your safety and for ours!
