Jail Operations

These guidelines have been written to assist you on your visit to the Pitkin County Jail. If you have any questions, please check the FAQ's in this document, or feel free to contact an on-duty deputy.

Visitation hours will take place every day of the year. Visiting hours are:

Monday through Friday:	6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday:	10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Parking is available in the parking garage. On street parking is available within a few blocks of the jail. It is unacceptable to leave vehicles in the cirlce/parking area in the front of the jail, and the parking lot behind the jail. Vehilces may be towed and/or ticketed in these areas.

UPS provides the County and District courts with sentencing alternatives beneficial to the community and appropriate for violators of petty offenses, misdemeanors and felonies. It provides alternatives to incarceration to satisfy conditions of probation. The UPS program enhances opportunities for adult offenders to make a positive contribution to the community.

Registration for court order UPS will take place on the third floor of the County Courthouse on Tuesdays from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon and from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm when Court is in session. Please call the above number to schedule an appointment if you are unable to register during those times.

If you have been sentenced by a Judge to work release at the Pitkin County Jail,you must first contact Jail Supervisor Billy Tomb (phone: 970-920-5336, e-mail: bt85@ci.aspen.co.us) to make arrangements for your stay. Work release is often full and you must speak with him about making reservations. Work release rules and acceptable items are available upon request.
