Tri County Effort to Identify Homeless

WHAT:

During the week of August 13 through 17, 2012,  the Tri-County (Eagle, Garfield and Pitkin) Registry Week will create a by-name, photographic registry of local homeless and prioritize the most vulnerable for housing. Volunteers will traverse all across the Roaring Fork Valley communities to find, identify and survey the area’s homeless. The goal of the effort is to better understand the communities’ needs and help persons who are homeless to obtain and sustain permanent housing and needed services.

A local coalition has teamed up with the nationally renowned organization, Community Solutions, and its 100,000 Homes Campaign (www.100Khomes.org). The program has become a national model for reducing/eliminating homelessness in major urban metropolitan areas including New York’s Times Square.
