Fleet

The Fleet Department is a separate organization within the Street Department. We are responsible for the acquisition and disposal of city vehicles, provide preventative maintenance and repair on those vehicles, purchasing of parts and accessories, recycling materials, and managing the fuel resources for the City of Aspen.

We are dedicated to:

  • providing all City Departments with quick, safe, and efficient service to allow them to return to their job at hand as soon as possible.
  • keeping the local air and rivers clean by ensuring that City equipment does not pollute, and passes all smog and fuel guidelines.
  • using environmentally friendly solvents, recycled tires where practical along with recycling motor oil and other automotive fluids.

 

The Fleet Department has two mechanics and one shop foreman, which keep the vehicles and equipment in operation on a full time basis.

 

We have added Hybrid (gasoline/electric) and Flex Fuel (gasoline/ethanol) vehicles to the fleet.

 

How many pieces of equipment do we have?

The Fleet Department consists of approximately 250 pieces of equipment, everything from pumps, compressors and mowers to road graders and loaders.

 

 

Services:

  • completing the vehicle maintenance within the OEM specifications for each vehicle.
  • assist in the snow removal process.
  • works closely with all departments in their fabrication and maintenance needs.
