Aspen Historical Society logoThe Aspen Historical Society became ZGreen certified in June 2009 and a ZGreen Summit Business in August 2011. The Historical Society features two museums and two ghost town sites in the Aspen area. The Wheeler-Stallard Museum is open year round and houses 10 full-time employees. The Historical Society also offers tours and educational programs during the winter and summer seasons. In addition, the Historical Society hosts ZGreen-certified events and its beautiful grounds are available for rent for private events.

The Holden-Marolt Mining and Ranching Museum is open during the summer season for tours and private rentals. During the shoulder season, educational tours are by appointment only. The Ashcroft & Independence Ghost towns are open during the summer months and guided tours are offered. Long range plans include a third museum at Lift One to tell the story of skiing and modern Aspen.
