BPI and Energy Assessments

The Building Performance Institute, Inc (BPI) is a leading developer of technical standards for home performance and weatherization retrofit. BPI's first principle is to do no harm and the BPI-certified energy assessment is an evaluation of a home's energy systems and the potential to improve its energy efficiency.

The BPI-certified energy assessment is a “whole-house as a performance system” analysis. In the process of assessing and recommending energy efficiency measures, auditors will strive to maintain or improve existing levels of health and safety in your home. BPI-certified auditors will provide accurate information to customers about energy conservation measures and help you choose the best home improvements based on relative benefits, improved health and safety, comfort, home durability, and energy savings.
