Rio Grande Volunteer Wetlands Planting Day
Saturday, August 23
8:30 am till 5:00 pm (including dinner)
Volunteers will be planting native vegetation in the soon-to-be completed Rio Grande Wetlands, part of Aspen's environmentally responsible stormwater treatment system.
THIS IS A FAMILY-FRIENDLY PROJECT
with supervised, age-appropriate activities for kids aged 6 and up!
Help transform a portion of Rio Grande Park into an important facility to assist in filtering storm water to keep pollutants and aggregate from flowing into the Roaring Fork River. The project will also dramatically increase the riparian habitat along the river. Volunteers will plant thousands of native wetland plants, riparian trees and shrubs in this important phase of the project. The Rio Grande Wetland is a short walk from North Mill Street in Aspen and is the newest man-made wetland.
