Volunteer Wetland Planting Day at Rio Grande Park
Saturday, August 3, 2013
8:30 am - 5 pm
Leave your mark in Aspen forever!
Outdoor Volunteers will assist the City of Aspen this Saturday, August 3 on a
wetland planting project in Aspen’s Rio Grande Park to improve the wetlands
area that helps filter storm water runoff before it enters the Roaring Fork
River and provides important wildlife habitat. Volunteers will plant thousands
of wetland plants, riparian trees and shrubs, and complete native seeding. Parents are encouraged to bring their kids
for this family-friendly project, where RFOV youth coordinator Jared McDaniel will
oversee activities appropriate for kids ages 6 to 12. The project kicks off at
8:30 a.m. Saturday and concludes around 4 p.m. when hard work will be rewarded
with dinner. Volunteers can sign up at rfov.org or call 927-8241.
