White River National Forest Supervisor Scott Fitzwilliams is working hard to connect with the local community, and his efforts have been great at pulling together all sorts of voices that care passionately about their public lands.
Yesterday and today he is meeting with a broad spectrum of forest users, from mountain biking groups to city council members, to discuss what is and isn't working on the forest. What are the biggest challenges? What are the biggest problems? Where do we see solutions? How can the forest position itself for funding on ways to restore the land through a collaborative, community approach?
We're excited to see what the outcomes of the community meetings end up being, particularly in relation to the federal budget dollars that will be allocated next year.
