Modern Architecture in Aspen and Historic Preservation

7/22/2010 8:12 AM

Aspen has a variety of post World War II architectural styles throughout town, along with a great inventory of older Victorian homes.

But a lot of people don't know much about the modern architecture and architects that make up Aspen's cityscape, so the City's historic preservation officers have put together a great video primer on the five architectural styles in post WWII Aspen.

We've posted the videos here along with a link to a survey asking your opinion about historic preservation in Aspen.

Interested in finding out more about post World War II styles in person? Join us for an amazing event July 28, 2010, called Aspen Modern.

Aspen was chosen by the National Trust for Historic Preservation to hold a free event celebrating the history and debating the future of Aspen’s post World War II architecture and landscapes.

What: Aspen Modern

When: Wed., July 28, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Where: Mountain Chalet

Drinks and apps served.

Please register for the event in advance here: My.PreservationNation.org/AspenModern. More details here.

Have something to share on the topic of historic preservation in Aspen? Go for it.
