Yard Waste Collection at Rio Grande Temporarily Unavailable

Local Agencies Participate in Prescription Drug Take-Back

The Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office, Basalt Police, City of Aspen and Pitkin County Environmental Health departments and the Aspen Police will be participating in the first-ever nationwide prescription drug take-back day. The Drug Enforcement Administration and government, community, public health and law enforcement partners are working together to prevent increased pill abuse and theft. The DEA, through our local agencies, will be collecting potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs for destruction on Saturday, September 25th from 10AM to 2PM local time.  The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.

City Engineer Completes Fellowship

Tricia Aragon, director of the City Engineering Department, was recently recognized for completing the Jennings Randolph Fellowship with the American Public Works Association.

Aragon was recognized for her contribution to the APWA’s international program through her professional, technical and cultural study tour in the field of public works in New Zealand.

Aspen Police Arrest Suspect for Multiple Offenses at St. Moritz

At 12:33AM on Monday, September 13, 2009 the Aspen Pitkin County Communications Center received a 911 call reporting a domestic violence incident at 334 W. Hyman Ave, at the St. Moritz Lodge. Aspen Police officers were dispatched to the scene immediately, per protocol. Upon investigation, Officer Loudon placed the suspect under arrest, 28 year old Charles Brandon White (DOB: June 12, 1982).
