ASPEN - Pitkin County, the City of Aspen and Town of Snowmass Village are compiling a wish list of trails and trail amenities in the upper Roaring Fork Valley as the first step in drafting  an Upper Valley Trails Plan. The public is invited to weigh in at a pair of meetings on Jan. 30.

The goal is creation of a comprehensive plan that will direct and enhance the future development of trails from Woody Creek to above Aspen. Progressive Trail Design and the International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) are beginning work on the plan in collaboration with the three local governments, as well as the Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management and Aspen Skiing Co.

Representatives of Progressive Trail Design, IMBA and Pitkin County Open Space and Trails are seeking input from mountain bikers from 4:30-6:30 p.m. on Jan. 30, and then from the hiking/running/skiing community from 7-9 p.m. Both sessions will take place in the Rio Grande Room in Aspen.

Equestrians were the first to offer their suggestions, at a meeting held in December. Discussions will continue throughout the winter months; a draft plan is expected by mid-year.
