Long time Aspenite Tom Clapper, husband of County Commissioner Patti Clapper, was taken seriously ill yesterday evening. An off-duty 911 dispatcher rendered immediate aid and emergency crews responded quickly to the scene. Mr. Clapper was airlifted to University Hospital in Denver last night where he is being treated.
“It was an extraordinary effort by our local emergency response agencies. They came together seamlessly to provide excellent care to Mr. Clapper. We are truly fortunate to have such dedicated and talented responders,” according to one eye witness. Emergency response was provided by Aspen Ambulance, Aspen Fire, Aspen Police, the medical team at Aspen Valley Hospital, Airport Operations staff, and Flight for Life Fixed Wing Team.
The Clapper family extends their heartfelt thanks for all the support being expressed by the community.
