City Phones Down this Weekend, Possibly Monday
This weekend beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, there will be an emergency shutdown of much of the City/County network data and voice service in order to relocate fiber optic cables.

The work is expected to be completed (at the earliest) by late Sunday and could possibly affect the system on Monday.

Customers will not be able to phone many City or County offices and facilities, including City Hall, the golf course, Aspen Recreation Center, Red Brick, Yellow Brick, Water Department, Parks Department, Senior Services, Ice Garden and the Landfill.

There will be no impact to Aspen Police, Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office or 911 calls.

While several “work-arounds” are in place and could keep phones operational at the ARC and Aspen Golf and Tennis Club this weekend, those wishing to schedule tee times and tennis courts would best be served online at www.aspenrecreation.net by clicking on “reservations.” Many other items can be accomplished on the site as well, from registering for camp to renting out the Ice Garden.

Although phones may not be answered at the ARC this weekend, it will be open during regularly scheduled hours.
