The Aspen Police Department confirms that the investigating team has
positively identified the body found under the Maroon Creek Bridge in
Aspen as that of missing Snowmass Village resident George Aldrich.
Agents from the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, officers from the Aspen Police Department and Pitkin County Sheriff's Office, as well as the Pitkin County Coroner's Office have conducted an initial assessment at the incident scene.
The body was located by off-duty personnel from Mountain Rescue - Aspen, who were not acting in an official capacity, but were following up on a pledge to keep working to find Aldrich's body.
There was no immediate indication of a cause of death, and an autopsy is scheduled to be performed later today. Until the official coroner's report is made available and a complete review of evidence and laboratory findings has been done, the Aspen Police Department is unable to release any additional information or details related to the incident scene.
Aldrich was reported missing on the morning of November 29, when the Snowmass Village Police Department received a report that Aldrich failed to show up at work.
