Debbie Quinn Hired as New Assistant City Attorney

Aspen, Colorado – April 2, 2012– The City of Aspen is pleased to announce it has hired Debbie Quinn as its new Assistant City Attorney.  She was selected from a pool of 103 applicants.

 

“I am thrilled to have this new opportunity,” Quinn said.   “I look forward to serving the City and the citizens of Aspen in this new role.” 

 

City Attorney Jim True said, “I look forward to working with Debbie.  Her background is a perfect fit for this position and she will be an invaluable resource to the City’s legal team.”

The Assistant City Attorney is responsible for advising City Council, City departments and boards and commissions in addition to prosecuting municipal code violations in municipal court.  In addition, the Assistant City Attorney has responsibility for a significant caseload in state and federal courts and represents the City in litigation.

 

“After many years working as a government attorney, I am excited to bring my skills and experience to an organization as professional and forward-thinking as the City of Aspen,” Quinn added.

 

Quinn has held a variety of legal positions in the Roaring Fork Valley including working at her own legal and consulting business, serving as Assistant County Attorney in Garfield County and Assistant County Manager and Assistant County Attorney in Pitkin County, owning a motel and working as a partner in Oats, Hughes and Knezevich in Aspen.

 

She has served as the President of the Pitkin County Bar Association and is a member of the Colorado Bar Association and the Ninth Judicial District Bar Association.

 

Quinn has a law degree from University of Colorado.  Quinn is taking the position over from Jim True who was promoted to City Attorney in February.
