Contact:  Scott Miller, Capital Asset Director, 970-920-5085 or scott.miller@ci.aspen.co.us

Aspen, Colorado – April 19, 2012– The City of Aspen is pleased to announce it has hired Andrew Ernemann as its new real estate broker.  Ernemann is a Broker Associate with BJ Adams and Company Real Estate.

The City released a Request for Proposal in December 2011 seeking realtor services which included negotiating the purchase and disposition of real estate for affordable housing and other purposes, managing transactions, advising staff and council on specific properties and proposals among other duties.  Ernemann was chosen from a total of 8 candidates.

“Andrew is well equipped to advise the city on real estate market conditions as well as the sale or purchase of individual properties. He has many tools available to him for analysis and knows how to use those tools,” Scott Miller, Capital Asset Director said.  “He is also skilled at presenting well in both private and public settings. He will be an effective advisor to staff and council.”

City Council is committed to hiring a real estate broker for a variety of reasons.  Having a dedicated realtor is more cost effective, provides Council with consistent advice and serves s a go-to professional when Council expresses initial interest in buying or selling a property.  In addition to sales, Ernemann can provide advice on leases and rentals.

“There were a number of quality brokers that applied for the job so I’m thrilled to have been chosen,” said Andrew Ernemann.  “It will be a privilege to work with the City of Aspen on real estate related matters. I’m excited to bring my background of real estate analysis and sales to the table, and anticipate providing meaningful input with regard to purchase and sale decisions as well as general real estate market updates.”

Ernemann will serve the City for one year with two one year renewal options.
