Aspen-Pitkin County Airport’s Planning Website Goes Live

Aspen, Colo. – Aspen-Pitkin County Airport’s new planning website, www.aspenairportplanning.com, is now live.  The planning website is designed to keep community members and users of the airport informed about current and future projects, including the Master Plan update and runway extension, and to promote community involvement in future planning for the airport.

“We are proud to unveil this new website,” says Jim Elwood, aviation director at the Airport.  “Pitkin County is committed not only to keeping users and tenants informed of ongoing activities at the Airport, but also to engaging the community in the Airport’s planning process in order to achieve a facility that best serves the community at large.”

The website includes information about the three current planning projects at the airport: an Environmental Assessment for a potential Runway Extension, the Master Plan update and the Climate Action Plan.  Information on construction projects at the Airport is also available.  A calendar allows visitors to see a timeline of projects and events, including public meetings.  Documents related to Airport planning, such as public presentations, chapters of the Environmental Assessment and the Greenhouse Gas Inventory, are available for download.  Visitors can also learn about the Airport’s planning team and offer feedback on plans to airport officials.

“The website is a vital communications tool in our public outreach efforts,” says Hillary Fletcher, Pitkin County manager.  “Our goal is to reflect the desires of the community in all future airport plans.  The website will help us to stay in touch with the public.”

The new website was created by Darnauer Group Communications, a local firm assisting with the community outreach for the Airport Master Plan.

Aspen-Pitkin County’s mission is to provide safe, efficient and environmentally responsible airport services and facilities that meet or exceed the community's expectations.  To learn more about planning projects at the airport, visit www.aspenairportplanning.com.
