Be Alert for Shoplifting in Aspen

ASPEN, CO - 03/05/2010 – On March 4, 2010 the Aspen Police Department received a call at approximately 5:50 PM regarding a theft at The Little Bird, 525 E. Cooper Avenue. A Dolce & Gabbana purse, described as a large, tan and brown, snake-skin or eel-skin worth approximately $5000 was stolen from the store. Officer David Rosselot responded to the scene and initiated an investigation.

The shoplifting suspects were described by the store employee as a middle-aged man and woman, both with heavy “middle-eastern” accents.  The man was wearing a black beanie with red and white trim, glasses, and a dark coat. The woman was wearing a very large, dark navy coat and had dark black hair that was pulled back. The man distracted the worker by asking her to ring up items and to do price checks every time she approached the woman. The suspects were very adept at distracting the sales personnel while shoplifting the purse.

“These suspects are professional criminals,” said Sergeant Mike Tracey. “And it is possible that they are involved in other thefts in the Aspen area.”

If you believe you may have had contact with the above listed suspects or your business is a victim of shoplifting, please contact the Aspen Police Department at (970) 920-5400.
