Bees and Wasps

Every summer the Environmental Health & Natural Resources Department receives several calls about bees and wasps creating problems around County residences. Even though bees and wasps may be viewed as a nuisance around a home, most of these insects are beneficial and should not be destroyed unless they pose a real hazard. Insects like the honey bee are important pollinators, and necessary for plant propagation. Many wasps are predators important for controlling destructive insect populations.

The CSU Cooperative Extension Service is a good source of information on bees, wasps  http://www.ext.colostate.edu/pubs/insect/05525.html and other insects common in Colorado. Please visit their website to learn more about problematic insects and their control. http://www.ext.colostate.edu/pubs/insect/pubins.html
