Pitkin County - Open Space and Trails

		Emma: "Part of Open Space and Trails' mission is to preserve our community's working landscapes. The Emma Open Space was purchased in 2000, and is leased to local ranchers, so that it remains part of our valley's agricultural heritage."

		James H. Smith North Star Open Space: "The James H. Smith North Star Open Space was purchased in partnership with the City of Aspen in 2001. This parcel lies between the North Star Nature Preserve and a preserved open space parcel owned by the Aspen Center for Environmental Studies. Together, these parcels comprise over 325 acres of wildlife habitat just a few miles east of downtown Aspen."

		Rio Grande: "Open Space and Trails recently completed a trail along the historic Denver and Rio Grande railroad corridor. The 'Rio Grande' Trail connects Aspen with Basalt and Emma. OST's trail network provides non-motorized recreationists and commuters with over 30 miles of paved and non-paved trails in Pitkin County."

		Hot Springs Aerial: "The Hot Springs Ranch and Filoha Meadows are located adjacent to the Penny Hot Springs just a few miles north of Redstone, along a designated Scenic Byway. Bighorn sheep are frequently seen on this property in the wintertime."

		Independence Townsite: "OST partnered with the Aspen Valley Land Trust to help protect the historic townsite of Independence, located close to the summit of Independence Pass."
