County Treasurer Vault
The functions of the treasurer are the collection of property taxes and custodian of other funds collected by various county departments.
Taxes collected by the Treasurer's Office are distributed to the different taxing authorities that include the school districts, Colorado Mountain College, cities and special districts within the county.
The Treasurer's Offices collects deposits from the United States Government, State of Colorado, County Clerk and Recorder, Sheriff's Office, Community Development,
Roaring Fork Transit Authority, Pitkin County Library, Senior Services, Social Services, and the Airport.
The Treasurer's Office also provides the following services: property tax collection, tax deferment, mobile home authentications, Certificates of Taxes Due and tax searches.
The Treasurer's Office enforces collection of delinquent personal property taxes by distraint, seizure, and sale of such property and conducts an annual delinquent real estate property tax lien sale.
Pitkin County is a Home Rule county and the Pitkin County Treasurer is an appointed position and serves at the pleasure of the Pitkin County Board of County Commissioners.
