It is the responsibility of the City Manager's Office to ensure the public receives excellent customer service. This is achieved by providing guidance and support to all City departments and by assisting City Council in defining and meeting their collective goals.

The City of Aspen operates under a City Manager form of government. The City Manager is appointed by and serves at the pleasure of the City Council. The Mayor is elected for a two-year term. There are four Council members who are elected at-large for four-year terms. All employees report to the City Manager. Steve Barwick is the City Manager (see his biography).
