The Aspen Police Department offers lateral transfers for patrol officers who are Police Officer certified in the State of Colorado, or certified in other states, whose criteria meet Colorado standards. The lateral transfer officer, if not initially certified in Colorado, will need to become certified in Colorado after being hired, which includes immediately passing a P.O.S. T. certification written test and, within six months of date of hire, passing a skills certification for firearms, driving and arrest control (PPCT).

The lateral transfer officer must have a minimum of 3 years of “street” experience at another police department. (This would not include time worked in a jail facility).

The lateral transfer officer would start at a patrol officer level or grade of POII. The starting salary range for a lateral transfer will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
