The Aspen Police Department is committed to processing each application in a timely, and "applicant friendly" manner. We will work with your schedule. However, "out-of-area" applicants may require several visits to complete the process.
Applicant must pass a written exam to be administered by the Aspen Police Department (this is an IPMA police officer exam that is multiple choice).
Applicant must complete and pass an Integrity Interview.
Applicant must pass an Oral Board.
IF THE APPLICANT HAS PASSED ALL OF THE ABOVE STEPS, A JOB OFFER MAY BE MADE CONTINGENT UPON PASSING THE EXAMS BELOW:
Applicant must undergo written psychological tests.
A background investigation of each applicant will be conducted by the Aspen Police Department, including photographing, fingerprinting and a polygraph.
Applicant must have an "occu-med" medical/physical exam & stress test by a doctor of our choice.
Formal job offer is made by the Chief.
STATUS OF APPLICATION
Applicants not passing any of the steps above will be notified as soon as possible.
Applicants passing each step will be asked to continue in the process and will be notified when someone is chosen for the position.
The Aspen Police Department reserves the right to change the testing policy at any time without prior notice.
