The Aspen Police Department offers a number of crime prevention services, from business and residential security surveys to crime prevention seminars.

It is illegal to sleep within vehicles, including recreational vehicles, in the City of Aspen.

To clean city streets and identify abandoned vehicles, it is illegal to leave your vehicle parked in the same location on city streets for more than 72 hours.

The Aspen Police Department supports Tipsy Taxi and encourages any intoxicated person who has no other means to get home to use this wonderful service. DUI enforcement is active all the time, particularly in the evening, seven days per week.

Open containers of alcohol, and fireworks containing any explosive substance are illegal in the City of Aspen and, together, are a really bad combination!

The City of Aspen supports a curfew for minors (under 18 years of age) for their safety. The hours of curfew are 11:00 p.m. - 5:00 am. and dictates a minor shall only be in public places if accompanied by a parent or with the permission of a parent. (For more details on this ordinance refer to15.04.370 of the Municipal Code.)

To keep people and pets mixing nicely in our town, the City of Aspen has a leash law. 6.08.050 and a law requiring you clean up after your pet has pooped" 6.04.100. All people in the City appreciate you cleaning up after your pet and keeping your dog leashed. We encourage you to carry a baggy of some type to clean up after your pet.

In order to keep our downtown streets as picturesque as they are, we request "No Parking 3-7 am" for street maintenance.

Our community values it's peaceful quality of life. To that end we ask that all motorcycle users be sure that their machines be equipped with an adequate muffler that is in constant operation, and prevents any excessive or unusual noise. No person shall modify the exhaust system in a manner that will increase the noise emitted, from a level above that originally installed on the motorcycle. (SEC 225 M.T.C.).
