Aspen Recreation Center
Asset Management is tasked with the project management for the city’s capital improvement projects. These projects vary in scope and character and can be as diverse as Burlingame Ranch Affordable Housing Phase 1 and as straight forward as the canopy over the parking garage stairs.
Other projects include the ARC, Historic Water Plant Restoration, the Animal Shelter, Stillwater Housing for Pitkin County and Truscott Housing for Aspen.
Asset managers have many responsibilities that vary with each type of project and with each type of contract. Project supervision and advocacy does not stop with the planning or design phases of a project but rather is continued by the asset project managers through construction.
These efforts include ensuring the city’s interests are met through the project’s goals and objectives. This is achieved through resolving construction issues; quality assurance; contract, schedule and budget compliance and the defense of the public interests. The project manager is the final link of the city’s presence from the commencement of design through the completion of construction.
All of these responsibilities are dynamic and in many cases rely on the information provided by the construction team; however through a constant effort of advocacy for the city, the best possible project is achieved.
