The Community Relations department is the liaison between the community and City Council. It is responsible for communicating
City Council and other departments’ information to the community in a variety of ways including: weekly City ad in the Monday
Aspen Times, press releases and feature stories, City Matters – a magazine format television show on CGTV Channel 11, an annual
progress report, and other Special Events. Community Relations also works to engage the public in civic dialogue which goes
beyond the standard City Council meeting. Engaging the community in unique ways -- such as keypad voting, focus groups,
neighborhood meetings -- to deal with controversial and difficult issues the City faces is a goal of this department. In
addition, Community Relations works with the Sister Cities committee.
The community is encouraged to send comments, requests, and questions for City Council to the Community Relations department.
Other questions, comments and requests concerning the City of Aspen and the community are also welcomed by this department.
