
Pitkin County has an emergency management system and coordinator in place to help plan, prepare, mitigate, and recover from natural and human-caused emergencies and disasters. The communities and individuals within the county must also take a proactive approach and prepare their residents, employees, households and families for emergencies. The Public Safety Council (PSC) was created to bring together all first response agencies (such as Law and Fire Departments) and other supporting agencies (such as American Red Cross and Community Health) every other month to discuss public safety issues in the Roaring Fork Valley. The PSC meets the first Wednesday of January, March, May, July, September, and November. The meetings are held at rotating locations within the valley and run from 8:30 - 10:00 a.m. Call (970) 920-5234 for locations and agendas.
