Mission: Pitkin County's goal is to provide for public confidence in the County purchasing
procedures, ensure fair and equitable treatment of all persons who deal with the county, provide
increased economy in procurement activities, maximize the purchasing value of public funds of the
County, foster competition, and to provide safeguards for a procurement system of quality and
integrity.
Purchasing Organization: Many of Pitkin County's purchasing functions are decentralized with
specific employees in the various departments being responsible for purchasing decisions. The
Purchasing Office, a division of Public Works/Project Management, is responsible for assisting
the various departments of the County as they purchase equipment, goods and services and for
coordinating all formal bids.
Advertisement: The names of all formal proposals are published in the Aspen Daily News newspaper
on Mondays, and available on Pitkin County's web site, at
www.aspenpitkin.com/apps/rfps/rfp.cfm.

Bid Lists: The County is not required to maintain bid lists. However, certain departments may
maintain lists of vendors for frequently purchased items or services. To request inclusion on a
