What We Look For
Non-profit organizations that are dedicated to working together to strengthen the quality of life
in Pitkin County are eligible to apply for grant funding. This includes Health & Human Service
agencies that provide a continuum of health care services including education, prevention,
intervention and outreach programs, regardless of the client's ability to pay. Community
Non-Profit organizations that address community problems, enrich the quality of life in Pitkin
County and serve the Community Goals listed on the following page are also eligible to apply.
Applicants must be tax exempt under the provisions of the Internal Revenue Code. Health & Human
Service agencies and Community Non-Profits may apply for general operating support or special
project funding.
The Citizen Grant Review Committee scores each application, based on
the following criteria:
- Fulfills the intent of the ballot language and a Community Goal.
- Agency has a track record of successful service.
- Serves people who live and/or work in Pitkin County.
- Does not duplicate existing services or programs.
- Collaborates and partners with other agencies.
- Clearly identifies financial need.
- Services address essential community need.
- Identifies an outcome-based evaluation plan (performance measures).
- Presents accurate budgets and financial reports.
- Identifies other funding partners.
- Application is complete, clear and concise.
