Estevez Hearing Monday in Pitkin County Court

ASPEN, CO - 3/12/2010 – On Monday March 15, 2010 Carlos Irwin Estevez, also known as Charlie Sheen is scheduled to appear in Pitkin County District Court at 2:15 pm. Ninth Judicial District Court Judge James Boyd will be presiding. 


Estevez, 44, of Encino California, was arrested by the Aspen Police Department on December 25, 2009 for Menacing, a class five felony, Criminal Mischief, a class one misdemeanor and Second Degree Assault, a class four felony. The charges were coupled with a domestic violence component.


At an arraignment hearing on February 8, 2010, Judge Boyd reduced the charge of Second Degree Assault to Third Degree Assault, which is a class one misdemeanor.


Twenty of the available 60 seats inside the courtroom are reserved for media professionals who have obtained positions through the lottery which was finalized in January. Screening will begin at 1:00 pm. All spectators must be seated by 1:30 pm in order to accommodate other hearings which precede the Estevez case. The Pitkin County Sheriff’s Department and the Aspen Police Department will provide security; only people with courthouse or law enforcement business will be allowed inside the building.


Judge Boyd has issued a Decorum Order for all proceedings in the People of The State of Colorado vs. Carlos Irwin Estevez. All devices capable of taking, recording, or broadcasting visual images or sounds and phones, computers, and devices capable of communicating from inside the courtroom to outside the courtroom are prohibited.
