(Aspen, CO) The Pitkin County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) provided an update regarding the ongoing executive search for the County Manager position, which is vacant due to the resignation of former County Manager, Hilary Fletcher.
The BOCC is working in concert with a Colorado search firm, KRW Associates LLC. Position vacancy announcements were posted for 30 days on professional city and county association web sites. Announcements were provided to interested candidates as well. Visibility of the posting was very high, which resulted in the submission of application and resume materials by 42 applicants. The applicants represent a diverse and experienced group of candidates from many regions of the country, as well as candidates who have ties to Colorado, the Rocky Mountain region, and the western slope.
KRW Associates LLC is working with the County’s Leadership Team (executive staff) to reduce the number of candidates to a workable number of semi-finalists. It is expected that 5-10 names will be submitted to the BOCC, from which the Board will select the top candidates to invite for interviews and assessment.
The actual interview process is expected to include employees and staff of Pitkin County, community members, and the BOCC. It is anticipated that the interviews will take place in November. Final candidates have not yet been determined. The names of final candidates will be announced once those candidates have been selected and notified.
“We are pleased that our process for recruitment is on schedule. We will continue to move forward and we look forward to making a selection before the end of the year,” said George Newman, Chairman of the Board of County Commissioners.
